Dr. Jennifer Ostrom graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003 and has been a proud member of the Greenville Veterinary Clinic team since 1998. In 2012, Dr. Ostrom and Dr. Hemker purchased the Greenville Veterinary Clinic from Drs. Bristow and Gehrig. Her interests include beef and dairy herd health, bovine reproductive ultrasound, and equine and companion animal dentistry. She enjoys spending her free time with her husband, children, two cats and doing any type of outdoor activities. Away from work, she is a photography enthusiast, and a cooking and quilting student.
Dr. Lynette Hemker graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. After graduation, she began working at the Greenville Veterinary Clinic. In 2012, Dr. Hemker and Dr. Ostrom purchased the Greenville Veterinary Clinic from Drs. Bristow and Gehrig. She enjoys equine dentistry, dermatology, and surgery. Along with her husband and children, they care for two dogs, five horses, chickens and one cat. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family participating in outdoor activities.
Dr. Charlotte Detmer graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. Before attending veterinary school, Dr. Detmer attended Murray State University where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. Dr. Detmer also achieved a Master of Science degree at Colorado State University, where she worked under Dr. Temple Grandin and focused on dairy calf respiratory disease and employee training. Dr. Detmer has a strong interest in food animal medicine, equine medicine and dentistry, and ophthalmology. She grew up with horses, beef cattle, and pigs on a farm in Aviston Illinois. In her spare time, she enjoys spending her time camping and riding horses.
Dr. Chelsea Ballinger, a native of Stewardson, Illinois, graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016 and joined the team at Greenville Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Ballinger has always been interested in pursuing mixed animal practice and welcomes the variety that comes with treating such a wide variety of animals. Her interests include cattle reproduction and surgery, small animal preventative healthcare and surgery, and dermatology. In her free time she enjoys hiking, reading, and running with Charlie,her lab mix. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Harold Bristow graduated from Illinois in 1968 and served as an army veterinarian for 3 years before going into private practice. He worked one year in Altamont before working with Dr. Stowe. In 1973, Dr. Gehrig and Dr. Bristow founded the Greenville Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Bristow’s interests include equine reproduction and dairy herd health. Dr. Bristow now works part time and is able to spend more free time at the farm in Girard and fishing. His other interests include collecting Hopalong Cassidy memorabilia, Indian artifacts, and researching genealogy.
